This week we where given the task of creating our first ever animatic! In the same group as last week, we all got to brainstorming. Since the world we are on didn’t have much to work with we all agreed we would try and use the work from the following week in the animatic.
We all agreed on a main story line;
> A resurrection stone comes into the monster, a candy creature finds it and reacts by turning into a zombie creature
>It goes back to town, and chaos breaks out as candy creatures turn into zombies
>Some of the candy creature’s decide on a plan to go to the brain to rewire it and escape the monster
We looked at what is a animatic and tried to follow the following guidelines given;
> What’s the story? > Ideation, conceptualisation, evalution,planning and production
>The best way foward!
>The content > storyboards, sound, effects
And then to continue the cycle as much as we possibly could!
We started to look at many sources for inspiration, the cancer advert was one of the more important sources;
> The scene in toystory 3 where they plan to escape the day care centre
>Warm bodies, the ending fight scene
>Zombieland (comic effect?)
>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpJoMuuE3Eg (showing the panic)
We all agreed that the style should be based on Adventure time (the link above), and also on the layout and “to do list of the week”. We agreed that the animatic should be very basic, and we should all do concept art on different scene’s of the animatic that we weren’t actually working on ourselves and we also finally agreed our final idea and started working off that.
The concept art I was given was the inside of the brain, I started to think of a old control rooms, and what would the structure be? I then made a board on pinterest to gather the ideas together before finally deciding on the final outcome!
I also started to think about how the brain functions, for example brain waves and came across the following photo which I really liked!

So with all these different images I had a very rough idea of what it would look like..
As for the animatic me and Edward sat down and started to plan out what the group already arranged, we looked at composition, angles and basically how best to get the story across by creating a basic shot list as guidelines!
We all then decided to put more effort into the storyboard and do it digitally in grayscale!
