Moving ahead!

So this week I focused on creating a galaxy, although trying to be realistic I wanted it to look very energised! here’s the outcome; (made on after effects)

Following along this amazing tutorial but trying to make it my own;

now on to the next step!11780583_1038028009571529_556930055_n

Solar system – running slow

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to work on this project as much as I hoped, after loads of difficulties with the actual project file refusing to open without crashing, I restarted from the beginning!

Thanks to these tutorials on youtube that have brought me this far;

I’m pretty happy with the outcome! but I do want to add more effects with the final animation in after effects but the basic’s are ready! I’ve started to look into more detail things like the astroid belt below is the tutorial I think I’m going to follow as it’s the most realistic I’ve found, I’ll animate it separate.

As well, looking at the animation itself I think this layout below was done with a similar idea as ours;

Now that the planets are in place and the feel of the project is coming together I’ve asked the help of friends to join me on this project, we’re starting to look into the big bang and more of the subtle effects below are some great links I’ve found that I think will push us on through to hopefully nearly towards the end of the tunnel with this project.

I think that most of the work now is creating the big bang, showing the galaxy the zooming into our solar system! The after the animation is complete, add in more effects with after effects and also titles and information which is the basis of this project!

Working progess

A catch up on the solar system; I have now got the planets finished and motion paths on the go! just time to make stars and more detailed background for rendering and to give the sun a more fiery look which i’m having problems on. Big hopes for what this will look like finished, depending on my beginner skills I don’t know if I’ll pull the rabbit out of hat with it, fingers crossed!

Below are some shots of what’s been done so far;

Belfast sky at night – Solar System

Gearoid Hamilton recently set up a Facebook page for astronomy lovers! He is astronomer from west Belfast and after much success on Facebook he has recently started a project to gain interest and educate adults and kids on the solar system and the galaxy’s around us. One of many of his idea’s is to create a film with facts and information for kids and a more advanced informative one for adults. He has asked for my help in creating this 3D tour video of the solar system!

After meeting Gearoid and his friend Sean Paul who will also be apart of the project, we started to brainstorm his concept and look for inspirations. Many of which were on youtube;

The main concept at the minute is that the film would begin with the big bang and then slowly move into our solar system as it is formed. Figuring out which software would be best, we decided that it would be a mix of 3D and 2D animations, the actual tour would be 3D and the other effects at the minute will be done in after effects, below are some other video’s we found which were pretty interesting and helped a lot to put the idea into motion;

With this all in mind I think I need to do more personal research myself to get the perspective right before beginning this project, looking at Brain Cox – Wonders of the solar system for inspiration and research, along with many others!
